Pikes Peak Summit Visitor Center
The summit house at 14,115 ft opened in June 2021. It is where you warm up, eat the famous donuts and get help if the altitude hits you.
What is there
- The high-altitude donuts, which the official site calls world-famous, plus burgers, pizza, nachos and pretzels at a self-serve cafe.
- Exhibits, a gift shop, an outdoor terrace and the summit marker.
- Restrooms, water refill stations and free guest Wi-Fi.
- An EMT station inside the gift shop.
- ADA-accessible walkways. The Cog Railway describes the building as cashless.
Hours
No separate Visitor Center hours are published; it follows the summit hours. The summit closes at 4:00 PM from October 1 to the Thursday before Memorial Day, 7:00 PM in summer, and 6:00 PM from the day after Labor Day to September 30. It is open year-round when the road or railway reaches the top; check today's status.
Parking at the top
If you drive, summit parking is a courtesy limit of 2 hours. For longer hikes the city points you to trailhead parking at Devils Playground, across from Sheep Sign, and at Elk Park.
Altitude
Air pressure at the summit is about 58% of sea level. Walk slowly, drink water and go down if you feel unwell. More on the altitude and summit weather page.
