Pikes Peak tours
A tour makes sense when timed-entry permits or Cog seats are sold out, when you would rather not drive a mountain road with steep drops, or when you are coming from Denver without a car. Below, what each listing says it includes.
Tour or do it yourself?
| Drive yourself | Cog Railway | Tour | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Booking | Admission + $2 permit in season | Seat from $67 online | One booking |
| Sold-out risk | Permits can sell out | Trains can sell out | Separate inventory |
| Driving | You drive 38 miles of mountain road | None from Manitou Springs | None |
| Guide and stops | Self-guided | Narrated ride | Guide; often adds Garden of the Gods |
| Cost for two adults (2026) | 2 × $18 admission, or the $65 carload, plus the $2 permit in season | 2 × $67 online | 2 × $140 for the cheapest jeep listing |
For your own group size, use the cheapest-way-up calculator on the Highway page.
From Colorado Springs or Manitou Springs
"From" prices as shown in GetYourGuide's catalogue on November 3, 2026. The "includes" column is copied from each listing's own Includes section, read on 2026-11-03. Listings change; confirm pickup, the cancellation policy and what happens if the road is closed above mile 6 before you pay.

Questions to ask before you book
- Does it reach the summit? In snow season the road is often open only part-way. Ask what happens if it is closed above mile 6. One jeep listing says it departs from Garden of the Gods from November to March, which suggests a winter route.
- Is the Highway toll and permit, or the Cog ticket, included? Every listing above says yes in some form; the exact wording is in the table.
- What time does it start? In summer, earlier is better: afternoon storms are common.
- Children and altitude: the city does not recommend the summit for infants 6 months and younger; one listing refuses infants under one year.
